Ukinranta is the community house and ”hearth” of Sinapinsiemen (“Mustardseed”), an ecumenical Christian association. It is situated by the lake Ukki, in Kangasala, Finland. Ukinranta House is committed to the values of Sinapinsiemen: prayer and silence, community, simple living, and ecumenical spirit. Our spirituality draws mainly on the Taizé community in France, and also on other sources, such as the Franciscan movement.
Ukinranta House has its own little chapel where the community gathers for prayer three times a day. The daily prayer times are 8.30. am, 1 pm and 8 pm, and everyone is warmly welcome to join. On Wednesday nights at 6 o’clock, we have an open house when old and new friends are invited to a simple meal, followed by an evening prayer in the chapel. The community organises a weekend-long retreat or other gathering approximately once a month.
